Keto Peanut Butter Balls (With Hazelnuts Inside & Cocoa Powder Topping)
November 27, 2019Intermittent Fasting Drinks (The Ultimate Guide With Extra Tips)
December 3, 2019The recipe for absolutely perfect and almost guilt-free keto burgers that have only 4 g of net carbs per one HUGE serving.
What’s the biggest problem for people transitioning to a keto diet? The fact that they need to give up bread, buns and rolls. The majority of favorite and popular meals contain baked goods, which makes it very hard for many people to give up bread and bakery products entirely.
However, I have some really cool news for you here. You don’t need to feel deprived of anything. Neither do you have to give up any popular bread-based meals, such as, burgers. How is it possible? Let me show you.
Today I’m sharing with you the recipe for keto burgers. This is by far my favorite dinner (breakfast or lunch) recipe of all time. I bet this will become your favorite too. The keto burger recipe is very simple, has only a few steps and will take only about one hour of your time.
The end product looks like a regular burger. The only difference is that it tastes so much better and has only about 4 g of net carbs per one serving (one huge 500-g burger with vegetables, sauce, cheese and meat).
Would you say that the above picture shows a keto burger if you didn’t know this isn’t a regular burger or hamburger? I bet you wouldn’t and… that’s the trick!
Ingredients (For Two Huge Keto Burgers)
Burger Buns
- 90 g (2.8 oz) of psyllium husk powder
- 4 medium-sized eggs, which is about 200-220 g (7-7.6 oz)
- 200 g (7 oz) of natural cheese spread (one package out of the two on the picture)
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 10 g (0.3 oz) of lard or butter.
- A few pinches of sea salt or Himalayan salt.
- A few pinches of oregano and/or basil.
Optional Ingredients
- 50 g (1.7 oz) of sunflower seeds (or any other seeds you like).
Inside Ingredients
- Two 200-gram (7-ounce) of beef patties
- A few slices of fresh cucumber
- A few slices of fresh tomato
- A few slices of fresh onion
- A few slices of pickled cucumbers
- A handful of sprouts
- 4 leaves of salad
- 30 g (1 oz) of mayonnaise
- 30 g (1 oz) of hot chilly zero sauce
- 30 g (1 oz) of cheese
- 30 g (1 oz) of Camembert cheese
Instructions
- Bake your keto burger buns. The full recipe for keto buns is here.
PRACTICAL TIP: When forming your keto burger buns, make sure their size corresponds to the size of the meat. I needed to bake a bit bigger buns because I bought bigger beef patties. This way my burgers turned out even slightly bigger than regular burgers.
- Chop the vegetables into slices or into any shape you want.
PRACTICAL TIP: Feel free to use any vegetables you like. I used the most popular and obvious ones for burgers, that is, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, onion and so on.
- Fry or grill the meat. I recommend simply frying it on a pan. Don’t put any fat on the frying pan. Just place your beef patties on the preheated fan and fry until they are as fried as you like. Mine were medium rare.
PRACTICAL TIP: Add salt, pepper and other seasoning after frying.
- Cut the buns in half and add the vegetables, sauce and any other ingredients. You can add them in any order you like. Just make sure you leave enough space for the meat.
PRACTICAL TIP: You can add sauce later after you’ve added the meat. Peanut butter also acts as really delicious sauce and really improves the taste of the burger.
- Once your beef patties are fried, place 1-2 slices of cheese on them. Cover the frying pan so that the cheese dissolves easily.
- Add your hot beef patties onto the bottom or top side of the keto bun. “Close” the burger and it will be ready for consumption.
PRACTICAL TIP: If you want your buns to be warm as well, preheat the oven to 150 °C (300 °F) and bake your ready burgers for 3-5 minutes. You can also heat up buns separately.
- Enjoy your keto burger.
PRACTICAL TIP: As you can see it turned out a bit thick and it was difficult to eat it without getting dirty all over your face. However, next time I will try to make my hamburger buns a bit thinner and let you know if it solves the problem.
